The IBM TotalStorage SAN32B-2 Express Model (part number 200532B)
introduces 4 Gbps FC capabilities. This improved performance is designed
to support storage networking demands to help increase higher throughput
and enhance security.
The IBM TotalStorage SAN32-B Express Model offers:
- 32 FC ports that are designed to:
- Provide multiple simultaneous connections, each capable of throughput
speeds of 1, 2, or 4 Gbps with a maximum latency of 2 microseconds
- Auto sense and self-negotiate to the highest speed (1, 2, or 4
gigabits) supported by the server, storage, or switch
- Self-configure as F_ports, FL_ports, or E_ports
- Operation with SFP optical transceivers designed to:
- Support up to 4 Gbps speeds with 4 Gbps shortwave SFPs for distances
up to 300 meters.
- Support 1 and 2 Gbps speeds with 2 Gbps longwave SFPs for distances
up to 10 kilometers.
- Includes 16 4 Gbps shortwave SFP Transceivers in base
- 1 U form factor is designed to enable enhanced port density and rack
space utilization. The SAN32B-2 fabric switch can also be ordered with
country-specific power cords for tabletop use.
- Hot-pluggable power supplies and fans help support enhanced
availability by enabling dual power source configurations and reducing
power supply disruption and fan maintenance.
- Web browser interface compatible with any Java-enabled browser is
designed to provide configuration monitoring and diagnostics using the
Internet or intranet.

range of connectivity solutions for a wide variety of host and storage
types (optional Port Activation feature available for upgrade to 24 and
32 ports).

Optional features
SAN32B-2 Express Model 8-Port Activation option (P/N 22R5505)
This feature enables additional port activation for ports 8 to 15
(first eight port increment) or ports 16 to 31 (second eight port
increment) in the B32 switch. Port activation features do not include
fiber optic transceivers. All activated ports must be populated with
SFP transceivers.
SAN32B-2 Express Model 8-port upgrade option (P/N 22R5078)
- Additional Port Activation enables upgrade in 8-port increments from
16 to 24, and 24 to 32 ports.
- The base 200532B Express model activates the first sixteen ports (0
to 15). You may optionally purchase port activation for ports sixteen to
twenty-three (first eight-port increment), and ports twenty-four to

The IBM TotalStorage SAN32B-2 (200532B) Express Model provides a 1 U
rack mount fabric switch, designed to provide Ports on Demand
scalability with 16, 24, or 32 ports, with each port capable of
throughput speeds of 1, 2, or 4 Gbps, and maximum latency of 2
microseconds. Additionally, each port is designed to offer auto sensing
and self-negotiation to the highest speed (1, 2, or 4 Gbps) supported by
the attached server, storage, or switch, as well as self-configuration as
F_ports, FL_ports, or E_ports. The base function of the SAN32B-2 fabric
switch includes Fibre Channel fabric services, Advanced Zoning, WEB
TOOLS, and Fabric Watch, as well as high availability design with
redundant hot pluggable power supplies and fans, automatic path routing,
and non-disruptive firmware upgrades The SAN32B-2 fabric switch comes
with the first sixteen ports enabled in the base with 4-Gbps shortwave
SFPs in the base product. Customers may purchase an additional 8-port
upgrade option (22R5078) for a total of 24, or 32 ports enabled.
The SAN32B-2 fabric switch supports operation with Small form-factor
pluggable (SFP) optical transceivers. Operation with 4-Gbps capable
shortwave SFPs provides distances up to 300 meters. Operation with 2
Gbps capable long wave SFPs provides distances up to 10 kilometers.
The SAN32B-2 fabric switch supports compatibility with IBM
TotalStorage SAN b-type switch family (IBM 2005, 2109 and 3534).
The IBM TotalStorage SAN32B-2 Express Model can be configured for
either rack-mount or tabletop use.

Summary: Performance Bundle Activation supports both Enhanced ISL
Trunking and Performance Monitoring capabilities.

ISL Trunking is designed to enable FC packets to be efficiently
